NY Ataturk Chorus 2019 Concert: HOS SEDA

Presented by the Turkish & International Music Ensemble

Saturday, March 16, 2019 @ 8PM

NY Ataturk Chorus performs with a full orchestra presenting oud, kanoon, piano, violin, saxophone, drums and percussion, where musicians usually improvise in Taksim sections. The repertoire consists of classical Turkish and folk songs in various makams.

Nedim Katgi, the founder of the chorus,has been training, coaching and directing the chorus since its foundation. He worked with many artists and earned professional music awards in Turkey.

Yuri Yunakov is a Turkish-Bulgarian Roman musician, who is famous for participating in the development of Bulgarian wedding music, and introducing it to the United States.

Umut Yasmut studied kanoo and violin at the Bogazici Music Foundation in Istanbul. He has performed in many concerts, not only Turkish classical, folk & Pop, but also Arabic, Greek, Balkin, Safardic & Spanish Flamenco.
