Backstage Broadway: Be More Chill
Presented by The Sheen Center for Thought & Culture
Monday, April 15, 2019 @ 7PM
With composer-lyricist Joe Iconis
Be More Chill composer-lyricist Joe Iconis and cast members Will Roland and George Salazar will perform songs from the show during the event. The three will also join Backstage Broadway host Alexander Gemignani, director Stephen Brackett, choreographer Chase Brock, and fellow cast member Jason Tam for conversation about the making of the show.
This evening will look at the runaway success of the new musical Be More Chill, which began life as a young adult novel, was converted into a musical that debuted at a regional theater in New Jersey, became a cult phenomenon with teens and young adults via social media when the cast album was released online, opened off-Broadway and had a sold-out run, and transferred to Broadway where it plays now.
Backstage Broadway is a new series hosted by actor, music director, and composer/lyricist Alexander Gemignani that provides an inside look into the collaborative process and sources of inspiration that make creative teams and casts tick, resulting in opening a show on the Great White Way.
*Student rush tickets will be available an hour before the event for $15 with a valid current student ID
