Azerbaijan, known as the Land of Fire, is a country located between Europe and Asia – it is the most Eastern European country and the most Western Asian country. Azerbaijani national music builds on folk traditions that reach back nearly 1,000 years. Classical music of Azerbaijan includes a range of musical styles rooted in national traditions while having the influences of European classical music.
The synthesis of the European and Eastern traditions expresses unique music. The program of the concert includes works of Tchaikovsky, Rachmaninoff, Skryabin, Lecuona, and Azerbaijani composers Qara Qarayev, Tofik Kuliyev, Aziza Mustafazadeh. World premiere of “Azerbaijani Rhapsody” will be presented by the author. You will also hear folk music performed on national instruments – a tar and a kamancha.
