Radical Love: Catholic Women Speak
Presented by The Sheen Center
Thursday, December 13, 2018 @ 7PM
Unfortunately, due to a medical event, author Leah Libresco Sargeant will not be available to participate in tonight’s panel.
Moderator Kerry Weber will now be joining the author panel with Eve Tushnet (Christ’s Body, Christ’s Wounds: Staying Catholic When You’ve Been Hurt in the Church). Kerry will speak about her book (Mercy in the City: How to Feed the Hungry, Give Drink to the Thirsty, Visit the Imprisoned, and Keep Your Day Job), which won a 2014 Christopher Award as well as awards from the Catholic Press Association and the Association of Catholic Publishers. Copies of both books, as well as copies of Leah’s book (Building the Benedict Option: A Guide to Gathering Two or Three Together in His Name), will be available for sale after the panel.
The event will now be moderated by Ashley McKinless, associate editor at America Media. Ashley edits the magazine’s Faith in Focus section and co-hosts Jesuitical, a podcast for young Catholics. In 2016, she was awarded the Egan Journalism Fellowship by Catholic Relief Services and traveled to Guatemala and Honduras to report on the root causes of forced migration. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia, where she studied religion and economics.
Join the authors as they engage in a frank and open conversation about the challenges and joys of building community, loving your neighbor, and welcoming the stranger with Jesus’s radical hospitality.
