Paul Greco has been creating art, mostly abstract, for as long as he can remember. He often shares a quotation from Albert Einstein's 'What I Believe' as a resonant example of his personal philosophy: "The most beautiful thing we can experience is the mysterious. It is the source of all true art and science."
From early childhood, when his parents took him to art museums, he was particularly drawn to the large beautiful abstractions by Kandinsky, Miro, Picasso, Klee and other modern masters. He enjoys using various mediums: acrylic on canvas and paper, collages, constructions, leaded glass and furniture design. Found objects and photography also play an important role his my work. Sculpture has been a major focus in his artwork as well. He recently completed a limestone and marble sculpture installation entitled 'Meditation Circle' on permanent display at the new Sculpture Meadow Park in Yonkers, New York on the shore of the Hudson River.
Greco often invites synchronicity to guide him in the creative process because it allows him to follow a path not yet explored. He has always been fascinated by outer space and in subjects ranging from the cosmos to the microscopic, mysteries of the ancient world and the mysteries of today. The origins of life and the unknown have inspired him and opened his mind to new possibilities of expression and creativity. Much of his work reflects an evolving spiritual awareness.
Greco attended the School of Visual Arts in New York City, studied interior design at Parson's School of Design, and faceted/stained glass at Rolph's Stained Glass Studio.
Greco's art work has been exhibited internationally, with numerous solo and group shows in museums and galleries including the Bronx Museum of the Arts, the Hudson River Museum, the Katonah Museum of Art, Washington Square East Galleries, and Leaver House in NYC.
Join us on July 17th from 5:30-7:30PM for an Artist Reception to welcome Paul Greco to the Sheen Center.
