In a rare appearance, poet Naomi Shihab Nye is accompanied by celebrated classical pianist Daniel Anastasio for a program that combines poetry and musical selections, featuring poems from Naomi’s new book Sidekick. Poet/vocalist/performance artist Haleh Liza Gafori will follow with a concert weaving her translations of the 13th century mystic Rumi and musical compositions sung in the original Persian. She’ll be performing with musicians including Grammy-nominated multi-instrumentalist Shahzad Ismaily.
