Queens of Memory - An Ethereal Journey, inspired by Gabriela Mistral

My artistic concept is an exploration rooted at the intersection of geographical memory, inner revelation, and poetic resonance. As anItalo-Chileanartist,mywork carries the indelible imprint  of my ancestral land: the vastness and nuanced hues of the northern desert, the solemnity of the Pacific Ocean, the forms of native flora, and the suspended echo of childhood memories.In this journey ofreclaiming my origins,the poetry of Gabriela Mistral—winner of the Nobel Prize  in Literature in 1945—serves as a conceptual and emotional compass. Her works—Desolación,  Ternura, and Tala—, ingrained in me since my formative years (deeply rooted in me since my  childhood), nurture an ideal dialogue that seeks not to illustrate the poetic text, but to transfigureitintovisualform. 

Themes of universal sisterhood, a visceral bond with the earth, and the sacredness of teaching  find a new expression on the canvas. 

The female figures in these works, possess an autonomous and inviolable existential  dimension. In solitude, absorbed in a dreamlike atmosphere, they embody a universal  femininity free from hierarchies and rigid canons. Their stylized presence evokes and  reimagines the solemn formal essence of 13th century Tuscan painting in a contemporary light,  transforming these figures into luminous guardians of a memory that is, simultaneously,  intimate and collective. 

The formal grammar of the works unfolds through an application of purely emotional colors:  the deep blue of the Pacific dialogues with the delicacy of the fax plant, while summer ocher  gives way to the chromatic gradations of the desert. The density of the surfaces—enriched by  layered textures and the sculptural use of gold leaf—create a suspension in time where nature  ceases to be a mere backdrop, and becomes a living organism, a symbol of metamorphosis and  belonging. 

Ultimately, my works take shape as an act of custody and revelation: a sanctuary of light and  color where memory surfaces and imagination reclaim, what resists the passage of time. 

This exhibition is a statement to my childhood memories and a tribute to my homeland and  to Gabriela Mistral, whose own memories and profound love for her childhood surroundings  and country are present throughout her monumental literary work.
